Welcome to the Unified Protocol Learning to Live with Strong Emotions: Self-Guided approach
We are so pleased to welcome you to this online material to support the Workbook for the Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders.
This online material is designed as a self-guided learning experience, with several important notes to help you get the most out of your participation:
1. Required Workbook
To effectively engage with this course, all participants should obtain a copy of the Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders: Workbook – Second Edition. If you choose to purchase the print edition directly from Oxford University Press, you may use the code ASPROMP8 at checkout to receive a 30% discount: Click here for Unified Protocol Workbook link.
Please note:
2. When Additional Support Is Needed
While this course may be helpful, it does not offer access to a therapist. If you feel you need additional support—or if it becomes clear that therapeutic help would be beneficial—we encourage you to contact your primary care physician or an appropriate mental health provider. This course is not a substitute for professional mental health care.
3. The Workbook Is Your Primary Resource
This course was created to complement the Unified Protocol Workbook, not replace it. Not all workbook content is covered here, and some material presented in the course may differ slightly in language or format. In all cases, the Workbook should be considered the primary source. If you ever have questions about content, please refer to the workbook—and your healthcare provider if applicable.
4. Video Overviews
Throughout the course, you’ll find introductory videos that are intended to orient you to what you’ll encounter in the workbook. These videos are designed to enhance your understanding, not replace the exercises or concepts presented in the workbook.
5. Optional No-Cost Support Q & A Sessions
To support your self-guided experience, we also offer twice-monthly no-cost Zoom question and answer sessions. These optional sessions are open to all and provide a review of key concepts from the workbook.
You can access the Zoom link and schedule for these sessions at: EmpoweredPathways.life under the “No-Cost Self-Guided Course” heading.
Important note - The Q&A sessions offered as part of this program are for educational and informational purposes only. They are designed to help participants better understand key concepts, exercises, and skills covered in the program.
These sessions do not constitute psychotherapy and should not be considered a substitute for mental health treatment. Personal clinical concerns, diagnoses, or symptoms will not be discussed in these sessions.
If you are experiencing distress or believe you may benefit from therapy, we encourage you to seek support from a licensed mental health professional.
We hope this course empowers you to better manage strong emotions and live the life you want to lead.
Warmly,
The Empowered Pathways Team
